Commissions

I create realistic wildlife and pet portraits as well as portraits of people, using professional quality, archival materials. This means, your new artwork will last a lifetime. The paper will not perish or become yellow and the colours will not fade over time.

Commissioning artwork from me could not be easier.

I offer a range of options to suit all budgets. All you need to do is decide on the size you would like which can be found in the Prices section of the website, and get in touch. If you are unsure about anything, I am happy to advise.

Portraits are rendered in coloured pencil, watercolour or mixed media. A light fixative may be used when working with soft pastel.

The time it takes to complete a portrait will vary according to the size, medium and surface used. I work in multiple layers and some surfaces require many more layers of pigment to fill the tooth of the paper. Larger pieces on textured surfaces will therefore take longer to render than smaller pieces on relatively smooth paper.

To secure your booking I require a 50% non-refundable deposit, with the balance to be paid upon completion.

Once a deposit is received you will be added to my booking list and given an approximate commencement date.

The completed portrait will be window mounted with bright white, acid-free mount board. This will be wrapped securely to protect the artwork and shipped to you in a rigid envelope.  Unfortunately, I am only able to ship within the UK at present.

Reference Images

In order to be able to draw/paint specific details to a high standard, I will require a high quality photograph of the subject. Additional photos of the same subject can also be helpful in terms of colours and markings, and to get a sense of their character. It is especially important that I am able to see the subject's eyes clearly. I will not be able to render detail that isn't there on the reference image provided.

Portraits are commissioned on the proviso that you own the copyright to the reference image or have permission from the person that does. If you are looking for a wildlife portrait but do not have a reference image, I am more than happy to discuss this with you.
